It is a fast growing outdoor activity everyone can enjoy. Similar to golf, the object of Disc Golf is to complete each hole in as few throws – or strokes – as possible. Instead of using a golf club and ball, disc golfers use a flying disc to reach the hole. Each hole starts from a tee box and is completed once the disc lands in the “hole”, which is a disc-catching target.
While Disc Golf can be played with just one disc, discs are designed to fly with different characteristics. Different discs can be used to hook and curve around trees or other obstacles, roll on the ground, or fly over trees. Disc Golf is an inexpensive outdoor activity for everyone from school aged to golden aged. Discs can be purchased for as little as $8 each and they last forever...unless you lose one in the trees!
There are no fees to play the course. The Melanie Defayette Disc Golf Course (formerly known as the Cadyville Disc Golf Course) is the first year-round course developed north of Saratoga in New York State. It is now an 18 hole course. Come and check out the activity creating a new buzz in our community!
We are now offering a disc golf loan program where you can stop by our office and borrow discs for up to one week. You will need to leave a $20 deposit for the discs, but you get it back when the discs return. Please, call us at 518-562-6860 to check on the availability of discs.
Limit 8 participants per session. Registration begins March 21, 2022 for Town of Plattsburgh residents and March 28, 2022 for non-residents.
Current COVID-19 guidelines will be followed for all programs. Each participant will receive a reminder email with all program details and updated guidelines approximately one week prior to camp.
