Day 1 -  Point Au Roche State Park & Nature Center
Date:  September 21  Rain Date:  September 22
Time:  8 AM - 12 PM  *Participants will need to meet at the Nature Center*
Location:  Point Au Roche State Park & Nature Center

Our group will visit Point Au Roche State Park and Nature Center.  We will participate in a guided hike lead by a naturalist who will share information about the park's animals and plants.  We will learn the 7 principles of "Leave No Trace" ethics.


Additional Supplies Needed:  Swimsuit for wading at the beach, snack

Day 2 - Silver Lake Mountain & Silver Lake Bog
Date:  September 28 Rain Date June 9th

Time:  8 AM - 3 PM  *Participants will meet at the Town of Plattsburgh Office Complex, transportation provided*
Location:  Silver Lake Mountain & Silver Lake Bog

Our group will climb Silver Lake Mountain.  At the top, we will learn to orient our maps and identify land features that we can see using our maps and compasses.  We will then head over to Silver Lake Bog.  We will walk toe boardwalk trail through the bog.  Here we will have an opportunity to identify a variety of hardwoods and fir trees such as Tamarac and spruce.  We will end the hike on a bluff overlooking Silver Lake.

Day 3 - Heart Lake/Mt Jo
Date:  October 5 Rain Date October 6

Time:  8 AM - 3 PM  *Participants will meet at the Town of Plattsburgh Office Complex, transportation provided*
Location:  Heart Lake/Mt Jo

Our group will take part in a guided hike up Mt. Jo, led by an ADK naturalist.  We will eat lunch at the top of the mountain.  The Mt. Jo trail head is located near Heart Lake and the High Peaks information center.

Day 4 - Poke-O-Moonshine/AuSable Point State Beach
Date:  October 12 Rain Date October 13
Time:  8 AM - 3 PM  *Participants will meet at the Town of Plattsburgh Office Complex, transportation provided*
Location:  Poke-O-Moonshine/AuSable Point State Beach

Our group will use the Poke-O-Moonshine informational pamphlet to identify points of interest as we make our way up to the mountain.  We will have lunch at the top.  We will then head over to AuSable Point State Park to cool off and enjoy some time wading and swimming in Lake Champlain.

Additional supplies needed:  Lunch, snack, swimsuit

**Rain dates will be on Sunday, the day after the scheduled adventure.  We will only use rain dates in dangerous conditions.  We will go out if it is just raining.  Please, be sure your child has rain gear packed every day.
